I. Overview
The self-cleaning water purifier incorporates technology introduced by institutions such as the Southwest Municipal Engineering Design Institute of China. It integrates advanced water treatment technologies and combines the advantages of similar products, featuring a more rational design and configuration for processes such as mixing, reaction, sedimentation, filtration, and filter media backwashing. It is suitable for treating high, medium, and low turbidity water from rivers, lakes, streams, and other sources across the country.
Due to its compact size, small footprint, low investment, quick installation, energy efficiency, and ease of management, the device can handle both low turbidity raw water (less than 100 mg/L) and high turbidity raw water (up to 3,000 mg/L, with short-term peaks of 6,000 mg/L), producing treated water with a turbidity of less than 5 mg/L. As a result, it has become the most popular water purification equipment for rural areas, towns, small and medium-sized industrial and mining enterprises, construction sites, field work units, and military barracks.
II. Working Principle and Structure
Raw water undergoes mixing, reaction, sedimentation, and filtration to achieve a turbidity of less than 5 mg/L. Mixing is completed externally by adding coagulants to the suction pipe of the water pump, utilizing the pump for thorough mixing. The mixed raw water is then sent into the purifier for treatment. The purifier includes: 1. Reaction, sedimentation, and filtration zones; 2. A sludge concentration zone, equipped with a forced outlet pipe that discharges 20% of the device’s rated flow. This zone enhances sludge concentration, extends sludge discharge cycles, and reduces water consumption for sludge discharge to achieve energy-saving purposes; 3. A backwash water tank, used for automatic filter backwashing.
III. Main Technical Performance
1. Raw water turbidity: ≤3,000 mg/L (can reach 6,000 mg/L for short periods)
2. Treated water turbidity: <5 mg/L
3. Inlet pressure: >0.06 MPa
3. When the water source is close to the water plant, the intake pump house can be combined with the delivery pump house. When the water source is far from the water plant, intake and purification facilities are built separately, with the layout tailored to local conditions.
4. Dosing is performed in the suction pipe before the pump, using polyaluminum chloride (low corrosion). Disinfection is carried out with bleaching powder or liquid chlorine, added at the inlet of the clear water tank.
5. The purifier foundation can be constructed with plain concrete, with a solid foundation treatment. The base should be 100 mm above the ground level. The water seal trough is brick-built, with the trough top 200 mm above the weir mouth. Dimensions are determined by the designer.
6. If the sludge or sand discharge pipes become blocked, they can be periodically backflushed using the water supply pipe.
